Put An End to Feeling Overwhelmed When Treating the Hand and Wrist

After working in Hand Surgery for 14 years as a physician assistant, I have spoken to many referring providers who are at a loss of how to provide care for simple hand and wrist injuries. They are afraid they are going to mess something up or miss something that will result in a bad outcome for the patient.

I believe that education is the key!

I am offering a PRIVATE COACHING PACKAGE to a limited number of physicians, NPs and PAs who are a good fit.

You need to realize, there is a cost to not dealing with this…

Don't simply ignore this and do nothing

What most people do when facing anxiety about their ability to diagnose and manage certain areas of medicine is spend money and time on a CME course that may or may not answer their questions or help their specific needs. They may spend hours searching for textbooks, or scouring UpToDate, PubMed articles, or potentially helpful YouTube videos. But for most people, that takes too long and does not address their specific needs. None of that works to relieve the anxiety.

When we decided to work in a healthcare career, many of us took an oath to do our best to care for patients. The core principles of the Hippocratic Oath typically include commitments to:

  1. Respecting the privacy and confidentiality of patients.
  2. Benefiting patients and avoiding harm.
  3. Upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in medical practice.
  4. Avoiding inappropriate relationships with patients.
  5. Not using medical knowledge to harm or exploit others.
  6. Passing on knowledge to future generations of physicians and healthcare providers.
  7. Recognizing the limitations of one's own abilities and seeking help when necessary.

When you learn how to care for the hand and wrist, you will be fulfilling the Hippocratic Oath, specifically commitments 2, 3, and 7. And I fulfill commitment 6 by passing on what I have learned!

And what happens if you just do nothing? If you just keep doing what you’ve been doing?

Your anxiety will continue and may worsen as the orthopedic injuries keep coming since it is well-documented that â…“ of all visits to primary care are for musculoskeletal complaints.

You struggle how to describe exam findings and decision making which makes the EMR documentation take longer or you have to call Hand Surgery every time you have a question which delays your clinic/patient visits resulting in more work at the end of the day. Ultimately, working like this leads to burnout.

How I Can Remedy Your Anxiety in Caring for the Hand and Wrist

I’ve got an answer that works. Here’s the story:

Every year I have had so many people reach out asking for “an ortho refresher” as they are either new to practice after graduating or are switching fields of medicine to now work in family medicine, acute care/urgent care, emergency medicine or occupational medicine.

There is book medicine we learn in school, but when it comes to the hands-on assessment and evaluation of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, if we didn’t see it in rotations then we haven’t done it! Now in practice, we are supposed to be able to diagnose and treat everything? That’s overwhelming! That causes anxiety!

Here's What Happened

So I began to gather material and content I saw that answered the questions people were asking. I invited physicians, residents, NPs, PAs, and students and held informal in-services 2-3 times a year. The responses have been so positive:

  • “I wish I would have known this years ago!”
  • “This was so helpful! Thank you for putting this all together!”
  • “I’ve learned more applicable things in these 2 hours than I have at a CME conference!”
  • “I don’t have time and money to go to a conference because of all my responsibilities outside of work, this has been so helpful!”

Introducing My "Private Coaching Program"

Finally, it's your turn. Here's what's included:

When you apply to work with me as a client as part of my 'Private Coaching Program,' you’ll join me personally on an initial scoping call, so that we can plan…

  • Access to a private members area and online learning portal.
  • The ability to schedule live one-to-one coaching calls privately with me.
  • A complete assessment of your challenges in providing care for the hand and wrist and detailed action plan.
  • Detailed and specific resources for you to reference and continue to use throughout your practice including EMR templates.
  • Ongoing support during office hours via email, video and chat.

Now it’s decision time

You have a choice to make:

  1. Do what you’ve been doing (or worse, do nothing at all). You know where that will lead. Continued and worsening stress about how to benefit patients and not cause harm. Frustrated patients who feel like you didn’t really help them. Mounting “piles” (we are all digital now) of documentation because you struggle to understand what you’re assessing and how to document it. Late nights doing work at home which has ripple effects in itself. Is that really where you want to go?
  2. Take a new action, and get a new result. Apply to work with me one-on-one and finally get answers to your questions, a specific action plan that you can implement in your practice to build confidence and decrease anxiety. I know which option I would prefer.

So here's what to do now. Just click the button below to be taken to a short application form. If you are a good fit for this program and I see that I can help, we can jump on a 30 minute call to define the next steps. I hope to speak to you soon!
